Step
by Step Quick Configuration
Basics
Before you can monitor your computers,
the server must be configured, so you will have to define which
computers should be monitored and choose all settings to achieve
a good configuration.
All settings and computer configuration can
be made using the XR PerfMon Tools FrontEnd,
which is a standalone application that configures the main OPC Server.
These steps will show you how to build
a simple configuration file for monitoring computers.

Step 1
With the FrontEnd open, the first step is
to discover all computers that should be monitored. To detect computers
on your network, press the "WMI Locator" button.

Enter the network IP range for the computer detection process.
The software will attempt to find all computers within the choosen
range and list them.
Press the "Start Scan" button to begin scanning.
All computers found will be listed after the scanning process is over.
Select the computers you wish to monitor and close the dialog by
pressing the "OK" button.
Step 2
The next step is to scan the computer counters
that should be monitored.
Select the computer and click on the "WMI Objects Scan"
button in the WMI Counter View.

You will be presented a dialog where you can choose which classes of
counters you would like to scan the computer for. Select the desired
classes and click on the OK button.

After the scan process, all counters found
will be listed. Select the counters you wish to monitor by clicking
the checkbox corresponding to them in the Counters List View.

Step 3
The next step is to configure some remaining
computer settings.
Select the computer and right-click it, then select "Computer
Properties".

If you do not want to change these settings,
just leave them with default values.
After adjusting the settings, be sure to enable that computer by
clicking the "Scan Active" checkbox.

Close the dialog by pressing the "OK" button.
Step 4
The next step is to update the server with this new configuration.
Click the "Activate Profile" button to complete the configuration process.

Step 5
Start the server using XR PerfMon Tools Server Monitor and review the entire configuration.
Probably you'll need to reload the server, clicking on the button "Reload Server".
In the screenshot below, it is scanning one computer for 33 items
and current Server Status is "Normal".

If your server status indicates "Scan Overlap",
you should change some computer specific configuration settings.

information on how to do that.
