Profile Management

A profile holds all your charts and settings, as well as captured data. Profiles are, thus, a central concept in Tag Explorer. Besides keeping information on charts, tags and data, a profile also holds some profile-global settings. You can configure these via the Profile Settings dialog, accessible via the Profile -> General Settings menu entry. In this dialog, you can configure whether data should be captured from a local server of through a remote server via network. There are also alarm settings, which are described in the Alarm Management section. The profile management toolbar lets you to create, save or load server profiles easily.

Using it, you can:

  • New Profile: Creates a new chart profile from scratch.

  • Load Profile: Loads a previously saved profile to the screen. Note that a profile can be loaded once a client.

  • Save Profile: Saves the current chart configuration to a file.

The profile is saved to a .XRC file whose name and path you can choose, plus additional .DAT files containing the captured data. One .DAT file per chart is created, and the name of those files is derived from the chosen profile name by appending a numeric identifier.
