General Test Information


This is a real test case using the server to monitor some Windows computers over a fast network.
In a typical network environment there are computers with different software configurations, consequently different response times which may interfere in performance.


Tested Computer Enviroment


Server Computer Configuration:

  • AMD Sempron(tm) Processor 2800+

  • 512MB DDR System Memory

  • 40GB Disk space

  • 100Mbps Network Connection

  • Running Microsoft Windows XP with Service Pack 2

Monitored Computers:

  • Windows XP Computers


  • Windows 2000 Computers

Test Results


In this Real Test Case, the described system configuration was monitored during a half hour of operation and the following resources were monitored during this time.

Processor usage was monitored on every second and the average processor load was 5%.

Memory usage was monitored on every second and the average memory use was 11MB.

Network usage was monitored on every second and the average network use was 6% for data in both directions.
These values were calculated based on a 100Mbps ethernet link.

XRatel PerfMon server sucessfully monitored 310 items every second with low resource usage. This situation can be easily reproduced by tuning the server profile and scanning only useful items.
