Quick Configuration
Before you can monitor your SNMP Devices, the server must be configured, so you will have to define which devices should be monitored and choose all settings to achieve a good configuration. All settings and device configuration can be made using XRatel SNMP OPC/DDE Server FrontEnd, which is a standalone application that configures the main OPC Server. These steps will show you how to build a simple configuration file for monitoring network devices.

With XRatel SNMP OPC/DDE Server FrontEnd opened, the first step is to discover all devices that should be monitored. To detect SNMP devices on your network, press the Setup Wizard button.
At the second step, select the option Local Network to find devices in your subnet range and go to the next step clicking on Next.

Network Browsing
In the third step, XR SNMP FrontEnd will attempt to find all SNMP compliant devices within your subnet range. Go to next step when Scan complete be displayed.
In the fourth step, all devices found will be listed. Select devices you wish to monitor and go to the next step.
Now, Device Browsing will scan for network interfaces in all devices selected for monitoring. Go to the next step when the scan be completed.
All network interfaces found in all devices will be listed in step 6. XRatel SNMP OPC/DDE Server FrontEnd will create Performance Tags for all listed interfaces.

Go ahead to the next step and complete the setup clicking on Finish.
Now, select all wanted Performance Tags by clicking on History column of each tag. Activated tags are checked and its symbols are colored, while disabled tags are not checked and has gray symbols.

Click on Activate Profile button to update the server and reflect this new configuration. Then, confirm the publish clicking on Yes.

Start the server with XRatel SNMP OPC/DDE Server Server Monitor and review its configuration. Probably you'll need to Reload the Server, clicking on Reload Server button. In screenshot below, it is scanning three devices and current Server Status is Normal.

If your server status indicates Scan Overlap, you need to change some device-specific configuration settings. Please refer to detailed Server configuration section for information on how to do that.
You need to start a client to read the information from the server. You can use either XR Tag Explorer or any OPC client (on OPC versions). To use XR Tag Explorer, open it and click on Add New Panel.

The Add Panel Wizard will open. In the first step, select a name for the panel, change Server Port to 2202 and click on Next button.

The second step only shows all defined options for you. To save the new panel click on Finish.
Now, select which tags you want to see in the tag list above the chart clicking on checkbox beside the name of the tag.
