Using Tag Explorer

Chart Visualization and Operation

 

After creating a profile, you can start monitoring variables. Tag Explorer includes a powerful charting engine for fast and reliable real-time variable monitoring. It supports zooming, rotation, three-dimensional view, statistical calculations and more.

Chart View


Chart View

 

To view all data stored in XRatel Historian Service you just need to create panels.

 

Then, you can select the mode view clicking on the tabs: Chart View, List View and Alarm View.

 

The top Chart View toolbar provides access to:

 

Normal chart selection: Allows chart scrolling and zooming.

Chart 3D view: Select this option to enable chart three dimensional view.

Chart rotation: Select this option, then click and hold inside the chart to rotate it.

Chart offset: Select this option, then click and hold inside the chart to move it.

Chart depth: Select this option, then click and hold inside the chart to change its depth.

Restore view: Click this button to reset all 3D view settings (rotation, depth, offset).

Copy to Clipboard: Click this button to copy the current chart screen to the clipboard.

Save to file: Click this button to export current chart screen to a graphics file.

Export: exports data in CSV format.

Print chart: Click this button to open print preview.

Edit panel: Click this button to edit some panel settings.

Toogle Value Bar: Displays a bar that shows value of the selected time.

Toogle Diff Bar: Displays a bar that shows the difference between selected time.

Toogle Samples: Displays samples on plotted series.

Apply best fit: Activates the best view for the current chart, applying an average function

to eliminate excessive plotted points.

tag List: Show the tag list.

Legend: Show the legend of chart

Activate Private Timeline: Activate this button to navigate through historical data on each panel

Toogle private timeline: This button hide/unhide a timeline for this chart.

 

The tag list activated by tag List button helps you to select which tags should be plotted. You cannot insert more then sixteen tags in a chart. A panel can plot all tags you have added in Historian Service. Activate tags selecting the checkbox beside of the tag. You can select the type of the line using column Line Type. A lot of colors are available in column Line Color.

 

To zoom in a particular spot, you can easily set the region to zoom in and the chart will automatically adjust both chart ranges along with tag/plot data. Just click and hold in the position you want to start zooming and drag to destination (mouse movement is from left to right). The new visualization area (after zooming) will be marked red.

To zoom out from a particular spot, just click and hold in the position you want to start zooming and drag to destination (mouse movement is from right to left). The visualization area will be defined by chart global ranges, with no zoom.

It is also possible to scroll plots without changing the current visualization area. Just right-click and hold inside the chart. Mouse movement will scroll the chart in the same direction.

 

You can also export captured data to a CSV file for use in other applications. Clicking on Export Data on the main toolbar allows you to select the time range and the chart whose data should be exported, as well as the output file name.

 

The List View mode shows the tags in a table. Four columns are displayed:

 

Timestamp: the time of the last read.

 

tag: Indicates the name of the tag.

 

Value: The current value of the tag.

 

Quality: Indicates the quality of tag value.

Tag List View

 

Alarm View mode lists all alarms detected by XRatel Historian Service. A red light indicates when this alarm triggered while a green light indicates when the alarm went ok. Three columns exists there:
 

Timestamp: Indicates when this alarm triggered.

 

tag: The name of the triggered tag.

 

Alarm Value: Indicates the value of the tag when this alarm triggered.
