Q: What is XRatel IT Health OPC Server?

A: XRatel IT Health OPC Server delivers for OPC clients real-time performance data from computers and networks. Any OPC DA client can be used, such as a HMI, SCADA, PIMS, ERP, spreadsheets, etc. The software has been built using a multi-threaded core and an optimized data sampling algorithm, providing high performance operation. XRatel IT Health OPC Server gives to users with already implemented SCADA and PIMS solutions, a cheap, flexible and reliable solution to monitor critical mission networks, servers and workstations.

 

Q: What is XRatel OPC Server?

A: XRatel OPC Server is a tool that captures data through ICMP, SNMP and WMI protocols, process this information, calculating performance and custom indicators and provides them through OPC for other systems. The product is capable to monitor thousand of  variables with high performance. It has an impressive refresh rate to retrieve data and with this software package you can monitor servers, workstations, routers, printers and other devices in real time. The tool is indicated for environments where the efficiency and quality are extremely important.

 

Q: Can I use XRatel IT Health OPC Server logged on a restricted account?

A: Yes, but you can not modify Server configuration.

 

Q: What is necessary in a device to be monitored by XRatel IT Health OPC Server?

A: It is necessary that the desired device has implemented SNMP (v1, v2c or v3) or WMI. Several computers, routers, access points, have built-in implemented. XRatel OPC Server can monitor devices without SNMP or WMI available using ICMP (ping), but it will be showed only few probes: Device Time, Device Status, Device Data Flow, Device Link Utilization and Device Name.

 

Q: How to configure XRatel IT Health OPC Server?

A: To configure XRatel IT Health OPC Server you must use XRatel Server Config.

 

Q: How to monitor probe values configures in XRatel IT Health OPC Server?

A: To monitor the configured probes you must use XRatel OPC Server Monitor.

 

Q: Why I can not obtain data from a device correctly configured?

A: Verify the "IP" information, and if you configured SNMP version correctly ( v1, v2c, v3) or verify if WMI Auth Username and Password were correctly typed. Verify if you have access to the "community" defined in "Device Properties"an if the WMI user has administrator privileges.

 

Q: Is it possible to save data monitored by XRatel IT Health OPC Server?

Q: What is the difference between XRatel Performance Suite and XRatel IT Health OPC Server?

A:XRatel Performance Suite is a complete system monitoring solution, covering networks, computer servers and workstations. XRatel IT Health OPC Server delivers for OPC clients the same data monitored by XRatel Performance Suite, but only instantaneous values (the latest value retrieved for each monitored variable). XRatel Performance Suite also supports OPC client connections, but a optional module must be ordered.

 

Q: How can I licentiate XRatel IT Health OPC Server?

A:Firstly you must purchase the software in our site. After that follow the instructions in XRatel Licence and Activation help.

 

Q: Should I have to open a port in my firewall software to run XRatel IT Health OPC Server?

A: You should open 135/TCP and 135/UDP ports in your server and 161/TCP in all monitored machines.

 

Q: How can I make a backup of my settings?

A: In program XRatel Server Config use "Export Profile" function.

 

Q: Can I use XRatel Health Analyst, XRatel Probe Explorer or XRatel Report Config with XRatel IT Health OPC Server?

A: No, you can not use these softwares because XRatel IT Health OPC Server does not have Xratel History Service installed.

 

Q: When does trial period expire?

A: The trial period expire in 30 days after install.

 

Q: How many probes can I monitor during Trial period?

A: You can monitor or history 500 probes during Trial period. You can extend this number when you licence the software.

 

Q: How can I purchase the software?

A: You can purchase the software in our site: www.xratel.com.

 

Q: How long do I have the right to upgrade the software after its purchase? And what about the technical support?

A:XRatel Performance Suite 5.0 includes free upgrades for new releases within 01 (one) year after license purchase. After this period, you must contract XRatel SMS (Service, Maintenance and Support) for XRatel Performance Suite to receive upgrades.

 

XRatel Performance Suite 5.0 also includes free technical support within 01 (one) year after license purchase. After this period, you can use our Knowledge Base, Users Forum or FAQ. You can also contract XRatel SMS to continue receiving technical support from our team.

 

Note: For the license types in which XRatel SMS is not available (up to 10 and up to 50 probes), free E-mail support will be available within 90 (ninety) days after software purchase. After this period, only other support resources will be available, such as User Forum, XRatel FAQ, Online Manuals and Knowledge Base.

 

Q: I want to connect XRatel IT Health OPC Server with another OPC client. What do I have to do?

A: XRatel IT Health OPC Server can connect to other external OPC clients. You need only to configure your OPC Client to connect with XRatel OPC Server.

 

Q: Is there any kind of error log on XRatel? How can I access it?

A: Yes it is. You will find the log file in Program Files\XRatel\XRatel IT Health OPC Server 5.0\Logs, or on the folder in which you install XRatel.

 

Q: What do I need to configure in Windows DCOM config to permit that other OPC Clients (SCADA, PIMS, etc) to connect to XRatel OPC Server?
