Probe Toolbar

The Probe Toolbar contain all buttons used to manage Probes. This toolbar has 7 buttons:

bullet Scan Predefined Probes: Scan the current device for Predefined Probes.

bullet Scan Raw Probes: Scans the selected device for variables present in MIB database or in WMI Classes, adding them in the Raw Probes tab.

bullet Abort Scan: Abort current scan.

bullet User Defined Probe: Add an new Probe using the current device's Raw Probes.

bullet Remove Probe: Delete all selected Probes.

bullet Probe Properties: Shows all properties of the selected Probe.

bullet Activate Profile: used to activate all changes on XRatel OPC Server. Notice that after doing it the list with found Probes will be clear, remaining only activated ones.

Three tabs are found. They classify all Probes:

bullet Predefined Probes

bullet Raw Probes

bullet User Defined Probes

Below these three tabs, exists a Drag-and-drop grouping bar. To use it, drag a column header on it. Then, all Probes will group by that column.

You can group Probes using more than one column. For example: to group Probes by Probe Type and secondly by Enable column, drag the Probe Type column to filter and then, drag the Enable column too. More than two classifications are possible.

When dragging a column to it, two green arrows will appears indicating the column position. This feature allows you to manage easily your groups.

Finally we have the Search Bar. This bar filters all Probes by the column selected in the Search in drop-down list using the match expression in the Look For box.

In the right of a column header you will find a triangle in high relief for sort Probes.

Sorting groups are allowed too. To make this possible, click on the high relief triangle in the right of each column in the drag-and-drop grouping bar.

Using the grid you can easily copy probe information to clipboard. You just have to select what you want to copy and type CTRL+C. After that the content will be available on clipboard.

Significance

When using XRatel Historian Service, it is possible to compact the stored data using an algorithm. Configuring the significance of a probe make the History Server work this way: a new values is only stored if it correspond more or less than the significance percent of the previous value. It's easy so understand analyzing the above graph.

Notice that Significance is only applicable for Double probes.

Alarm Settings

Alarm Configuration example

Using XRatel Historian Service we can configure XRatel to trigger alarms for certain Probe's values. Notice that this function can be active only when a Probe is added into XRatel Historian Service. You can configure alarm fields in Probe Properties dialog. Only double Probes can send alarms.

To enable an alarm trigger click on Probe Alarm checkbox, select limit type (under or over) and set the limit of this Probe value in Limit field. For example, you can configure Interface Health Probe to trigger when its value is under 40%, so it is necessary to check Probe Alarm field, select under in the drop-down menu and then insert value "40" into Limit field. It is also possible to configure the dead band percent of the limit, what means that the alarm will trigger just when the value is under or over de limit considering the dead band percent.
